Sorry I'm a bit late on this, seeing as Saboten was several weeks ago. >.< I've been busy with school...
Well, anyway, Saboten was a lot of fun! It was much more relaxed than last year, because none of us were doing artist alley. We did, however, run a panel-- How to Explain Cosplay to People-- on Sunday. We were really pleased with how many people showed up (thank you, if you've come across this and were there~). Hopefully, we'll get to have it again at another convention (possibly Con-nichiwa) that way we can continue polishing it and make it even better next time!
I guess I should talk about some of the things that didn't go so well-- namely, all my unfinished cosplays. Dx I was supposed to have Homura Akemi to wear with
LilacLilac as Kyoko and
imalittlesquirrelly5 as Mami, but I procrastinated too much--like, all summer long--and so it didn't get done. It is now rescheduled for Con-nichiwa 2014, along with the others wearing theirs. My Juliet cosplay has a similar story. Although I
was able to wear it, I didn't make the majority of it myself--my grandma did; I only made the skirt, part of which was sewn together Sunday morning in the hotel room. Oh, and there were some details that were missing. >.< Aside from that though, everything was great; I tried to be positive and calm about it, so that really helped~
So instead of Homura, I wore a lolita outfit on Saturday. It was just a coord I put together a couple of days before, but it was alright. Later that day I switched into a different lolita outfit to be in the J-fashion show along with some of the other members of
StorybookSyndicate, as we had offered to model for my grandmother's business, Xandra Designs.
Sunday was when I wore Juliet and
gallimau-free was The Red Whirlwind. And like I mentioned before, that was the day we had our panel~ After that, and looking around at the Otaku Closet (Someone was selling brand, specifically Alice and the Pirates, and I internally cried over having no money >.<), we went to watch the masquerade. When they started playing "Make a Man Out of You", we had to start singing along, of course. xD (And if anybody knows of any videos of that, I'd really like to see them). I thought there were a lot of really great performances in the masquerade this year--congratulations to everyone who won awards; you were all fantastic!-- and I'm really excited for when our group will do our first masquerade, hopefully within this next year~
Monday I didn't do much, just went to the Lolita Tea Party, bought some things, wandered around. I was surprised I had as many pictures taken as I did; I guess the parasol I was carrying made my fairly simple lolita outfit look more interesting. Still, I was pleased with how it turned out.
In my last journal, I know said I would be the younger Rin from Meltdown, with Airabee as the older one, but she ended up only going on Sunday, so that didn't happen either. The tea party was a lot of fun. I enjoyed admiring everyone's outfits and meeting more of my fellow AZ lolis~
I only have a few pictures from Saboten, so I'll try and get those up soon. As far as upcoming stuff is concerned, I'm definitely going to Kikori all weekend, and Taiyou at least one day. I'll most likely be going to Con-nichiwa also.
